Frequently asked questions
What counts toward my tool limit?
Your tool limit is the total number of tools you can create across all your MCP servers. Here's how it works:
How Tools Are Counted
- Each tool you create counts as one toward your total limit, across all MCP servers.
- Modifying an existing tool doesn't increase your count.
- Deleting a tool frees up a slot in your limit.
Managing Multiple Servers
If you're using multiple MCP servers, plan how to distribute your tools. For example, with the Pro plan's 100-tool limit, you could have 50 tools in one server, 30 in another, and 20 in a third.
What counts as a Tool Generation?
A Tool Generation happens when you create or modify a tool. Here's what you need to know:
How Generations Are Counted
- Creating one or more tools in a single message counts as just one generation.
- Modifying a tool (e.g., adding a parameter) counts as one generation.
- Asking questions about using tools doesn't count toward your generation limit.
Examples
Create a tool that fetches weather data | Counts as 1 generation |
Create tools for checking current weather and 5-day forecasts | Creates 2 tools but counts as just 1 generation |
Add a location parameter to the weather tool | Counts as 1 generation |
How do I use this weather tool? | Free (doesn't count) |
Show me examples of using this tool | Free (doesn't count) |
What happens when I reach my tool limit?
If you hit your tool limit, you can either upgrade your plan or delete unused tools to free up space.
Upgrade Your Plan
Move to a higher-tier plan for more tools, generations, and invocations—plus access to additional features and priority support.
Delete Unused Tools
Review your tools and remove any you don't need. This frees up slots for new tools while staying on your current plan.
